Playoffs Nearing....

Where to start it has been a pretty busy few months for myself. I'll start with how the international scene has been going.

We welcomed Scotland and Wales to Bisham Abbey last week for a round-robin Home International Tournament where we came out 2-0 winners over Scotland and beat Wales 6-0 with myself getting on the score sheet 3 times for my first Senior hatrick of goals.

Following on from this we then had a 3 match test series as GB vs the Olympic Silver medallist China. These matches turned out to be a bit tougher, with us winning the first match 1-0 then losing 2-1 and 3-1. We played very well in the last match and where unlucky not to get a result from this game, but it looks like all the hard training is starting to pay off with some real signs of development in our performances.

The England National Hockey League has now finish and my team Leicester managed to remain unbeaten for the whole season and finished top of the league qualifying us for the European Hockey League next year along with our Indoor title in February we will have European trips indoors and outdoors next year. We now just have the playoffs left next weekend and then the Women's Cup final in Beeston on the 15th May, so we are looking to complete the whole set of titles which will capture a great year for Leicester Ladies.

Fingers crossed we will pull it off!!

Off the hockey pitch, I have been quite busty too visiting a number groups.

I spent the Friday of Sport Relief traveling around Essex visiting 5 different schools that were all carrying out activities to help raise funds for Sport Relief. It was a very fun day and to see so many young people enjoying themselves whilst doing a sporting activity was great.

This week I am due to visit a School in Stansted to show off my golf skills playing Tri-golf and also a School in Witham to help with some hockey coaching. Look back to see some photo's of the day.

Hockey Season Update

It has been a while since my last post and a lot has happened during that time on and off the hockey pitch. Where do I start......I suppose with the hockey!

The National Premier has started very well with my club side Leicester. We have managed to win all our matches so far, 8 straight victories and are currently ahead of Reading at the top of the table. We have two more matches this side of Christmas, then the indoor season starts and then the winter break before the outdoor league resumes in February. We have also made it to the quarter-finals of the cup competition.

One of my main reasons for joining Leicester was to win National titles and to play in the European Club hockey league, so hopefully we are heading in the right direction and I hope we can challenge strongly in the indoor league and make the finals night this year be held in Nottingham Trent Arena.

Since October we have started a Centralised Programme with the National squad which enables us to train as a GB squad most of the days of the week, every week and we hope this will improve our performances as a team at major tournaments in the lead-up to the London Olympic Games.

This has required many changes by individuals and it has shown how much commitment and dedication we put in, by all in the squad, in order to make the team for 2012 and for the team to perform to medal standards at the games.

Off the hockey pitch, I have been carrying out a number of Team Essex Ambassador duties across Essex.

One in particular was special for me returning to Chelmsford Hockey Club to help run a hockey master-class for youngsters from three schools in the Chelmsford area who have created a club-school link with the help of England Hockey. These coaching session hope to be continued each month at Chelmer Park and encourage young people to take up the sport and join the club to access more coaching on a regular basis.

With the winter months ahead I am looking forward to the indoor season approaching and can't wait to get inside to try some skills out. Always fun times indoors!

Thanks for reading and will keep you posted
